The film

A Hallmark-inspired dramatic demo scene written by Marie Ashwood and starring Marie Ashwood and Shatille McInnes, about a letter, a fractured relationship and the difficult emotional distance between what we intend and what another person receives.

The approach

Intimate performance, warm practical light and restrained camera movement keep the story close to its characters while the letter carries the tension between them. Harrison Mendel's cinematography, a practical home location and a compact crew made the piece feel built rather than overproduced.
